Nest hello can't connect to my google home app

Hi There,

Sorry to start this topic, but I tried different solutions (based on previous posts) but nothing works.

Thing is I have a google hub 2nd gen and a nest hello doorbell (wired). Like since this week 🙂

I log into my nest account with my google account/e-mail.

Now I cant connect my nest hello doorbell with my hub. I tried to add the doorbell via google home app (via adding device 'works with google') but it keeps asking for my nest account and when I log in via my google account (via/after 'forgot password option') it still reroutes to the page where it is asking for my login nest account.

Please help. Sorry for the spelling in this message, I need to walk my dog 🙂

Best regards

Mark

@Mark88

If you installed your Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app, and if you log into the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google Account and access the same Google Nest "home/structure" in each app, then you should AUTOMATICALLY see your Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Home app, though you still need to use the Google Nest app to administer your Google Nest Hello Doorbell and access its history.

FYI, the "Works with Google" option is for installing non-Google Nest devices.

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply. It’s the same structure I believe. I changed the name of the house in the home app, and in the nest app it automatically changed also. I still can’t see the nest hello doorbell in the home app. I just want to use the hub as a (extra) way to answer the call.

please help.

@Mark88

That's odd.

There have been numerous posts in this forum from customers who, after installing their Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app, it did not appear automatically in the Google Home app.

Many of them have used this simple workaround to get their thermostat to appear in the Google Home app. Maybe it would work for you:

In the Google Nest app, create a new, second Google Nest "home/structure".

Go to that new, empty Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it.

This apparently forces the 2 apps to sync.

Great thanks! It’s now in my account via this work around. Now the second mystery 🙂

How can I answer the doorbell via the Google hub? I can stream and communicatie via the nest hello (like ‘hi google, show me the front door’). But the hub is silent when someone rings the nest hello. Only my nest app on my phone gives a message.

plz help 🙂

@Mark88

Do you have "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) enabled on your doorbell's Settings? And make sure your Nest Hub is NOT set to "Do not disturb".
