Nest keeps returning to login screen

I use the Nest App almost every day.  Occasionally (about 1x / month) when I open the Nest app, it asks me to login again.  When I complete the steps below Nest simply displays the first screen again asking me to login.  over and over and over again. Then magically one or two days later it accepts the login.

* Welcome home.  Sign in with Google

* "Nest" Wants to Use "google.com" to Sign In

* Continue

* Nest wants to access your Google Account *********@gmail.com  Make sure you trust Nest

* Allow

* back to the login screen  repeat repeat repeat ...
