Nest(wired) doorbell will not notify my iphone when doorbell button is pressed

My Nest doorbell(wired) will ring my inside doorbell when button is pressed, but does not notify my iphone that the button has been pressed.  I get motion notification and sound, but not the button press.  This is a key feature of a smart doorbell now.

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you’re experiencing trouble with your Nest Doorbell (Wired), as it won’t notify you when the doorbell button is pressed; even though you still receive motion and sound notifications. I’m glad to help.

For further assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • What model of Nest Doorbell do you have? (Here is an important article to help identify your Nest Doorbell).
  • Is your Nest Doorbell in the Google Home app or the Nest app?
  • Is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned on?
  • Did you experience the same situation when you used a different mobile device?
  • Is this situation constant or intermittent?
  • Did you receive push or email notifications?
  • Has anything in your environment changed recently?

Please let me know your findings.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I appreciate the detailed information.

Based on your answers, please follow these recommendations:

  1. Turn off all notification settings in the Google Home app and Nest app.
  2. Sign out of the Nest account on all devices it's signed into, including computers.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall your Google Home app and Nest app.
  4. Check these settings on your phone (If available):
  • Background app refresh is on.
  • Do Not Disturb is off.

Important: Sign in and turn all notification settings back on for both the Google Home app and the Nest app.
