Nestcam with floodlight

I have a nestcam with floodlight.    The camera and lights were working fine.  Then the lights stopped coming on (camera still worked).  Tried to do a factory reset, but now I cannot get power to the nestcam.

I removed the nestcam from My Home.  Did a factory reset by pressing the button on the back of the camera (while still connected to the power), but now I get no power.  No yellow flashing light, no solid light, no beeping noises (like the directions say).   The electrical connections were never changed from when it worked fine to now when it is not working.

What do I need to do?

Hi gsu1990,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community! I'm sorry to hear that the light in your Nest Cam with floodlight stopped working and you couldn't set up your camera after removing it from your home. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the situation:

  1. Disconnect the camera from the floodlight.
  2. Connect the camera directly to a power outlet using a pogo connector.
  3. Try to set up the camera in the Google Home App.

This process will help determine if the floodlight is preventing the camera from receiving adequate power or if there's an issue with the camera itself.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Axel.

Thank you AxelD.   Had no idea what the connector was called.  Buying a connector from Amazon and will test.

Hi gsu1990,

Thanks for your reply! You can definitely purchase this pogo connector directly from the Google official store website.

Let me know how it goes once you receive the cable.

Best regards,
Axel.

Axel:   I received the cord from Amazon and connected the camera directly to a power source in my house.  The camera light came on and made a beeping sound.   I then tried to add the camera to my home (like I would do if it was outside).  I was able to add it to my Home with no issues.  However, in order to see live video, it had to be connected to the base with the floodlight.   So, I connected it back to the existing power source outside.  Nothing.   We tried plugging the existing POGO connection both ways to the camera in case my son (who climbed the tall ladder) was connecting it wrong and both ways, the camera's light did not come on and no sound.  Unless you have any other thoughts, it sounds like I need to hire an electrician to check the connection inside the base to the existing wires from the original floodlight before I replaced it with the nestcam with floodlight.

Hi gsu1990,

Thanks for your response!

I'm so sorry to hear that your Nest Cam with floodlight is still not working.

I really appreciate you taking the time to try the steps my colleague sent. At this moment, since the Nest Cam is not getting enough power when it is connected to the base, my best recommendation is to check the wiring connection with a professional electrician. This will ensure the Nest Cam to work as you expected.

In the meantime, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist you further!

Best regards,

Nery.
