Hi everyone, I've been waiting for the new Google Nest Outdoor cameras for 2 years, and they are finally being publicized as coming! I wrote in the google store website to book a home vist for the installer but he called me yesterday that they don't exist.. Yikes, did I get ahead of myself? I refuse to buy another camera, I want the Nest ones! 🙂
Any news on when they will be in commerce? I'm looking for the wired camera, not battery powered.
Thanks!

Hi Brad, no, I'm still waiting for the outdoor cameras but hopefully they will come out soon. Meanwhile (OT) or government is giving us huge incentives to say up scary home appliances si I will be also buying the Google Thermostats. Hopefully everything is available! Thanks for the help, especially to @Eric great reply! 🔥

What country? They're out in the US. Google dropped the IQ and calls them nest cam indoor/outdoor (battery) now.

Hi Eric, Italy. I see the cameras in the Google Store. There is not much detail. Do you know, by any chance the big difference between the old IQs and the new ones? Thanks!

Mostly, the new ones can run on battery so they can be placed anywhere. Google says that running in battery-only mode will last 1-7 months, depending on the frequency of events and video quality selected. And in case of WiFi downage, they store some length of video (either 1 or 3 hours, i'm not sure) right on the device. In the event of a power-outage this is very helpful. The new ones do not have to have a subscription to save video. But, If you pay $6/mo you can save up to 30days of events. If you pay $12/mo and you're plugged into power, you can save 24/7 video for up to 10 days and save event history for up to 60 days.
I believe that the IQ had a 4K camera sensor in the device. The new ones have only 2K. I have the new ones and I can attest that they cannot read a license plate at 40 feet. That's the only drawback I've seen so far.
Another peace-of-mind item with the new battery cameras is that Google will replace them if they get stolen or fall off and break, as long as you are using the security chain (sold separately). They're attached by a very strong magnet, which, seems to be more than strong enough to hold the camera on the base securely even in strong winds.

And do they have face recognition , and can they track persons like the IQ did ? I guess not.
So it's a big downgrade compare to the outdoor IQ especially for persons here in our community just like me who have or must i say HAD a outdoor IQ which stopped working after 7 months, with no replacement possible. SUCKS

Yes it has face recognition and it works great so far. I can't compare to how well it worked with the IQ, however, as I haven't used that product.

The IQ was able to follow an automatic zoom and following the person. Does the new one do this as well ?

Haven't come across that, yet. Can't confirm or deny.

Hey Brad. I finally managed to contact 2 professional installers indicated on the Google website. They both told me that they didn't know about the new outdoor cameras and that they weren't available yet... Sigh.. still waiting... Thanks for asking though!

Hi StormyWeather. We here in the US have been waiting for the new cameras as well. I might be able to save you some time. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. The hardware is okay but they do not work with the older NEST app on your phone. You have to use the newer GOOGLE HOME app and it lacks many many many features of the current product line. One other thing that is terrible is you can not view the new cameras from your computer's browser like the old ones.
I suggest reading thru all these posts and seeing how unhappy so many people are. Many (like me) have returned the newer cameras.
