New Outdoor Camera Replacement for NEST Outdoor IQ

David2023

So, I have 3 Outdoor IQ cameras that have been working fine for years. Now two will not power on. I have checked power supplies and they work fine. Will the new Outdoor camera work with the existing wiring from the older Outdoor IQ cameras? Also, can you mix and match an older camera with the newer ones on the iOS app? Thanks.

First, Google Nest no longer has an "Outdoor camera" as such. It has the "Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery)" (https://store.google.com/product/nest_cam_battery).

Second, the wiring for the new battery camera does NOT work with the wiring from the older Outdoor IQ cameras (see the optional power cable below); the connectors are entirely different.

Third, the new battery camera works only in the Google Home app, while our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells continue to work in the Google Nest app and on the home.nest.com website but can be live-viewed in the Google Home app and on the home.google.com website.

We've had the newer battery camera for 22 months, since Sept. 2021, because Google Nest discontinued its outdoor cameras in that month. We have it plugged in with the optional power cable (https://store.google.com/product/nest_cam_weatherproof_cable), so it pretty much functions as a wired outdoor camera and is "Live" all the time. But ever since we've had to use the Google Nest app and the home.nest.com website to manage our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells and the Google Home app to manage our one battery camera and our one new "Nest Cam (indoor, wired)".

Thanks for the detailed information. The support on the phone was terrible and could not answer the questions. Looks like we will be replacing all three cameras. Using multiple apps is ridiculous. May not even go back with Google...
