No Holiday Chimes

Darkeclipse

I'm pretty disappointed after I heard about holiday themes not being available for 2022 for this product. Google/Nest never gave an explanation to why this decision was made.

Any way I can get holiday chimes working again? Maybe through some developer settings?

Can you please tell me more about this? I just read there is an Octoberfest chime and new holiday themes coming. My app does not show any option of changing the doorbell chime or themes?

@krisorluck

Our Nest Hellos also do not show any option for changing themes.  While Google Nest's themes announcement did not say so explicitly (the announcement even links to how to change the themes in the Google Home app and the Google Nest app), I suspect the new themes are available ONLY for the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) and NOT for our Google Nest Hello Doorbells.

Yes and no explanation of why is given. I would like that explanation.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your help, MplsCustomer.

In addition to standard doorbell tones, seasonal doorbell themes are available around some holidays. You can change the theme or set a different chime sound in your app’s doorbell settings.

Here’s how to find your Nest doorbell settings:

  1. Open the Nest app Nest app.
  2. Tap your doorbell on the Nest app home screen.
  3. Tap Settings Nest settings icon.
  4. Look for the Nest Hello Doorbell theme.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Honestly, have you not read any of the posts here?

There are NO doorbell themes available for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app. Zero. None. Nada.

Your directions are boilerplate, but are inaccurate. There are no Doorbell Themes to be found.  The directions are inaccurate.

Hi there,

I wanted to make sure that our blog post was shared about the upcoming themes coming to your Nest doorbell! There is also a more in-depth keyword blog post that goes into some fun detail on the themes being introduced, and coming back! I invite you to check out the post and let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad

@Brad

The "blog post" you referenced makes no mention of the fact that there are no doorbell themes for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell.

The "keyword blog post" you referenced also makes no mention of the fact that there are no doorbell themes for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell. However, it indirectly hints at that fact when it says "we started creating doorbell ringtones you can download seasonally through the Google Home app", but of course settings like these are NOT available in the Google Home app for older Google Nest doorbells, so there are no doorbell themes of any kind in either the Google Home app or the Google Nest app for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell.

Why is Google Nest so reluctant to even admit that the new holiday doorbell themes are NOT available for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell?

Frustrating to say the least. This doorbell has the capability as it worked just fine last year.

I too have the same issue. No 'Ringtone' option in the Home or Nest App settings. Spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Google customer support. After that they said the Oktoberfest options were only available for Germany, but Halloween would be available starting October 1st. Today is October 1st ... still no 'Ringtone' option in ther of the App settings. Very frustrating.

@fluckey

The whole matter of holiday ringtones is bizarre. It seems that Google Nest chose not to make ringtones available on the Google Nest Hello Doorbell but does not want to acknowledge even to their own Support staff that that is what they did.

And why would Google Customer Support tell you "the Oktoberfest options were only available for Germany" when their announcement page says "Oktoberfest theme Nest Doorbell ringtone is available in the US, UK, and EU"?

Thank you! I'll check it out!!

So I don't know why, but Google just enabled it. Thanks Google.

It is just "spooky sounds" so, okay. I concede. No witch. No Frankenstein. I'm okay with this.

As of today (Oct. 2), the "Doorbell theme" option on our Google Nest Hello Doorbells has been restored, with one option (besides "Ding-dong"): "Spooky sounds".
