No previous doorbell but trying to use Nest

A friend of mine purchased a Nest Hello (doorbell).  He had no type of doorbell previously.  A licensed electrician bought and installed a doorbell transformer using the specfied voltage.  Will the Nest Hello work this way?  He is planning on using a Google / Nest mini for the sound.  There is no chime box in the house.

I believe the Google Nest Hello Doorbell will work when wired directly to your transformer. Our third Nest Hello is connected directly to an OhmKat Power Adapter for the Nest Hello, which is really just a plug-in transformer (our third entrance was not previously wired for a doorbell).  Just turn off the "Indoor Chime" option.  We rely on "Visitor announcements" on your Nest Hubs and Nest Mini.
