No setup or QR Code Resetting Camera

Not really getting started because I have had Nest Camera for years. I have device MAC and other info because I saved that before resetting network, but camera asks for the QR or setup code..

However had to reapply new network names to devices and now can't load camera or camera can't setup without QR or setup code. QR sticker is not on camera and no code anywhere.

After reading every post on this subject I have scoured the rubber ring on bottom of stand carefully and even peeled it off there is no setup code marking or numbers. I have even used a 60 power magnifier at work, so I know it is not to be found on the rubber ring, anywhere on the stand or even the camera itself.    Is this the last straw or Nest Camera I will own?

I will simply buy the other brand that remotely, rotates to sound motion, saves data to a SD or network I own or the web free of charge and seems to be very- very inexpensive. 29.00, and that means leaving google enterprises. Extremely frustrated.

Hey JCOwlzEyez,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues setting up the Nest Cam Indoor without the setup code or QR code. Let’s check it out.

If you don’t have the QR code or setup code, you can set up some older Google Nest camera models on a computer instead. You can use a Mac or Windows computer to set up the following Nest cameras:

  • Nest Cam Indoor
  • Nest Cam Outdoor
  • Dropcam Pro, Dropcam HD

You’ll need a computer running MacOS X 10.4 or later, but no later than macOS X 10.15 or Windows 8 or later that supports 32-bit applications.

Follow the instructions in this guide to set up your camera on a computer.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Lance

After setting up seven new cameras of other brand I thought I would give this Nest Cam one more try.

Administrator account opened and run as administrator the program which displays after plugging in camera to a windows computer.

The blue light light on the camera face began pulsing and continues to do so even when I tried three different network connection setups in the windows computer. It appears the camera (which worked fine on previous network) just isn't worth much more time.

I am however happy to report that the competition cameras were one - two - three setup and I can access them on the web via phone tablet or a hotel computer. So I am happy to be able to leave the Nest (pun intended) so to speak!
