In the past, I had no issues with my doorbell until I bought a Nest Cam and installed the Google Home app. Now my Nest Doorbell wired 1st gen (formerly Nest Hello) doesn't provide notifications even when someone rings the doorbell. My doorbell chimes, my Nest app shows the event (person ringing the doorbell), and I've confirmed the notification settings in the app are checked for people and all other motion. "When to send" is set to "Always". Sound is set to On. Note: Push notification is checked. My Home/Away setting is set to Home. I have no other cameras/devices in my Nest app. My Home app has both my Nest Doorbell and my Nest Cam Outdoor and I get notifications from my Nest Cam Outdoor. I removed the Nest Doorbell from the app, reset the doorbell (reset pin), reinstalled the app, and re-added the Nest Doorbell with no luck.

I don't know what's causing your issue, but I don't think migrating your Nest Account to a Google Account and installing the Google Home app would kill your doorbell notifications. We migrated in 2020 and have three 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells that have continued to work.
However, we have never turned on Home/Away Assist for any of our devices.

Thanks for the input. I just checked the Doorbell and the Nest app is working - both notifications when it sees people and working when I ring the doorbell. I'm assuming that I created the original disconnect issue and something needed 24 hours after I reset the system. By the way, I are you using the Nest app for your Gen 1 Doorbells and the Home app for your other hardware? Or are you using the Home app for your Gen 1 doorbells? I can see the Gen 1 Doorbell in the Home app, but I wasn't able to get notifications via the Home app.
