Notifications and Recording not working

Jen4224
Community Member

I've had my Google Nest Doorbell a little over a month now.  The notifications have stopped, it no longer senses motion, and no recordings.

I was on the phone last night with customer service, and although the representative as nice and walked me through some troubleshooting issues, it's still not working properly.

Anyone else having these issues?

I am ready to return this product and by a different brand.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen.

Hi Jen4224,

Thanks for trying to troubleshoot your doorbell notification. No worries, let’s get this sorted — a few questions: what’s the make and model of your phone? Is there a pending software update? Is there enough memory on your phone storage? What troubleshooting steps have you tried with our team? Also, is the Do Not Disturb setting off and the Background app refresh on in your phone settings?

Going over the steps here might help:

  1. Go to the device's Settings > Apps > Home > Storage & cache.
    • Tap Clear cache.
  2. For Android devices, go to System settings > Sounds and notification > App notifications > Google Home and follow the configuration below.
    • Block all is disabled.
    • Allow peeking is enabled.
  3. Try another mobile device.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Hey there,

It's me again. I want to make sure you're all good — did those steps work?

Regards,

JT

Hi. No, it didn't. It's still working sporadically. I'm very disappointed in the product. I'll be out of the country for a while and was hoping I'd be able to depend on this device. Doesn't look like I will.

Hey there,

Thanks for your patience here. I’m sorry to hear about your experience.

You can also give these steps a try:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Go to Settings > Events > Seen events.
  3. Select a zone > turn on event history for People, Animals, Vehicles and Motion.
  4. Turn on Your notifications.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Everything that you suggested on top has been done several times.  This is the worst experience I've ever had.  The recordings stop mid recording, it does not capture all movement in front of the camera.  The camera does not turn on anymore unless you are almost to my door.  If people are in the hallways, it will record the first few seconds then cuts off.  So, therefore, if something is occurring outside my door, I only receive partial video history.

I've had this camera a very short time and I have to tell you, I am not happy with this product.  I have to go away on business but on my return...I plan on returning this product, it's garbage.

I am a very unsatisfied customer.
