All of a sudden I stopped getting notifications on my phone. I checked the settings and the phone notifications are still turned on.

I have heard this before and you will see other people reporting this on this forum.  There is only 1 thing I recall that people said fix it.

#1 Log out of the Google Home app (make sure you have the correct email account and password before you log out.  Remove the Google App from the phone.  Fully power down the phone for about 1 minute and power it back up. This causes it to re-register with the cell site.  Re-download the Google Home app from the app store and log in and give it a try.   I know this is a pain but it seems to work for many.  If that doesn't fix it then wait 24 hours as it sounds like an issue with Google's servers.  People have been reporting issues with them lately.

Unfortunately the app simply doesn't work or stops working all of a sudden with particular phone OS or makes.
Prepare for a long wait for it to be resolved (if ever).. I've had this issue and been in contact with Google Nest Support since late Dec 2021. After a lot of pointless troubleshooting and then fighting with them (they just blame my phone), they've acknowledged it's an issue with the app that the engineers need to fix, but they aren't in a hurry...
Contact Google Nest Support and keep pushing back until they escalate it through all the levels.

What a sad state of affairs for this product. <Heavy Sigh>

Indeed.. great product, like most things Google, but when they don't work, simply useless...
