How do I get my ‘offline’ battery back to work?

Hi Tiffanyjanmcgee,

Thanks for reaching out. Let’s check this — a few questions: what’s the status light of your doorbell? How far is the doorbell from the router? Is it plugged into a power outlet? Also, were there any changes to your Wi-Fi network?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT

Hi JT-

Thank you so much for the follow up! I was out of town, which is why I particularly want this doorbell camera to start working again. We’ve had lots of break-ins and thefts lately in our area.
We just got a new internet router, and everything went offline. I was able to set up my nest mini’s with no problem, but cannot get this to reset. It still says offline. I popped the doorbell off, charged it…then tried to hook it back up on my google home app. Still nothing. We are in Chicago…so it’s been cold, but not really bellow 30° much.
Anything else I can try?

Hello everyone,

@Tiffanyjanmcgee how's it going with your Nest Doorbell? I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here.

Give these steps a try:

  • Try restarting your Nest Doorbell, your mobile phone and Wi-Fi network.
  • If you're still getting the same issue, we would suggest you to reset it to the factory default.
  • Remove and re-add it to your Nest app or Google home app.

I appreciate your response, JT.

Best,

Emerson

I've been having the same issues. Already installed it 3 times and still dropped 6 hours later. How many times do we have to reinstall this d@#n camera. Seems like a waste. Somebody on their end needs to quit focusing on the previous solutions and come up with a software patch that allows the device to reconnect automatically should the router get unplugged or a temporary service outage occurs. It's getting ridiculous at this point. Literqlly, the option to automatically reconnect to a network is one of the Simplest functions in technology that even the oldest smartphone can accommodate!

Hi SynL,

Thanks for posting here in the Community and for sharing with us your same concern. Normally, reinstalling your Nest Cameras is not always the resolution. Sometimes, it's just losing connection to your Wi-Fi network due to the distance of your Nest Doorbell to your Wi-Fi router. Especially when there are walls blocking or sometimes the fluctuation of your Wi-Fi network. These type of instances can be solved by a simple restart to the Nest Doorbell and it'll reconnect automatically to your Wi-Fi router. You may also consider restarting your Wi-Fi network.
