Hi guys
Can anyone compare real life usage between the older nest doorbells and the new battery/wired ones?
I know the viewing ratio is different but wasn't sure if these are better or not for the upgrade, etc
Are they better or should we stick with the older models?
Thanks

There are three posts from Google in the blogs in this forum on the old cameras and doorbells versus the new ones, along with a large number of customer reactions:

IMO, the old wired one wins hands down.

why?
Won't the older ones be phased out eventually anyway>?

It likely will be phased out, unfortunately. So I’d get it now while it’s still available!
On why the wired one is better, again IMO, there’s a few reasons:
- The Nest app is a far superior app for cameras than the Google Home app.
- Wired is always better than battery. Yes the new one has a wired option but there are reports of battery loss even when wired on the new one!
- Wired version has better field of view.
- Wired version has the option for 24/7 video history, based on subscription.
- I find the battery one to be rather ugly. The extra length just doesn’t appeal to me. Again, my opinion only.

Some customers in colder climates also report that the battery on the new battery doorbell can't maintain a minimum charge in "cold" weather, even if that "cold" weather is just around freezing, in spite of the fact that the operating temperature of the battery doorbell is -4 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. See this thread for that concern: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Cold-weather-concerns-with-Nest-Doorbel...
