OutDoor Wired Camera Won't Connect

Manufactured 9/2018.  The camera was connected via a range extender.  However, the extender failed so I got a new one and set it up.  That works fine  Now, the camera will not connect.  I tried turning off the power for 10 seconds and that did not work.  Note that I turned off the power at the breaker as the camera plugs into an outlet in the attic and I am too old to climb up there.  I went looking for a QR code or numeric code on the camera and on the base.  Nothing is there.  But I remember my SIL scanning it on initial installation.  I think the QR code and numeric code were weathered off.

Am I out of luck?  I was looking at new cameras but the outdoor ones are battery only.  I am not going to climb a ladder every 45 days to recharge it.  If I can't get this one to work, should I go with another brand? Ring?

TIA

For the battery operated cameras, you can get a cable to connect them continuously from Google Boutique:  see at the following Nest Cam weatherproof cable – Google Store

If you do go ahead and try the cable with the newer battery operated cameras, please come back here and let us know about the results. Is it fool proof and resistant?

By the way, your new wifi range extender, is it of the sort where you need to link to an alternate wifi, or does it really extend the range of the original wifi with it's original name and password?

I have experienced both, and find that the latter one works perfectly whereas the first one (where an alternate wifi name and password had to be used), did not provide for continuous connection.

With the wifi extender using my original wifi's name, it took a couple of days before my farthest camera found it and now it does continuously use it. For this type of extender, I did not have to have the camera reconnect to a new wifi, as the original wifi's name is used.

I wonder if I am clear with my explanations.

Yes you are.  Same ID and password used to set up the new extender

I understand that to connect the extender you need to use the original wifi's name and password. However:

Does your new wifi extender 'extend' the range of the original wifi (with it's name and password), or does it generate a new wifi name and password to which you must connect the camera?

In my experience, the first wifi extender that I used, it generated an alternative wifi name and password. With this extender, I had to reconnect the camera with the alternate wifi's name and password.

My actual wifi extender extends the original wifi's name and password and I did not have to do anything with the camera for it to resume it's connection.

You should try cutting the power off to the camera for longer than 10 seconds and then bringing it back on. Try it for one minute or so.

Thanks for all the input.  It is now working.  I am a little embarrassed of my problem of not seeing the QR code and written code on the camera.  Last night my SIL reminded me that there was a silicon sleeve on the camera so it better matched the paint on the eaves.  Peeled that back this morning and there it was.

Yes.  It solved the connectivity issue.
