My battery states it’s empty and it’s plugged into a wall outlet that works

Is the USB plug seated securely in the bottom of the camera and is the charging cord or power cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera?
If you've dismounted it to charge it, is the status light pulsing white, indicating it's charging?
We've had a battery camera for almost 20 months now, plugged in with the optional power cable, and it's "Live" all the time, and the battery remains charged. But the USB plug seems a little flimsy, and other customers have reported problems with it.
