My (3) Nest battery cams and Nest doorbell were dropping offline randomly, 24/7. After weeks of troubleshooting, trying every suggestion from community specialists, I broke down and replaced the cable modem/bridge rented by my provider. It wasn’t a bandwidth problem (I have gigabit service). It’s was apportioning of the wireless signal to multiple devices in the home that was the problem. The cable company bridge can’t handle the signal traffic. My new wireless bridge can.
A new gigabit wireless bridge was the cost of one Nest cam. It extended the range and tripled the tested internet speed to every device in the house. It’s been one month, and I can report all 4 nest cams completely stopped going offline. Event notification from Google is fast. Added bonus: I’m no longer paying a monthly fee for the cable modem/bridge. It’ll eventually pay for itself.
