Pairing Google Doorbell (battery) with multiple Nest Speakers

I have installed a new Google Doorbell (battery). It is paired to one Nest speaker (it seemed to randomly choose one), but I want to pair to multiple. How do I do this?

All devices are in the same home, on the same wifi.

I asked Bard and it said:

To choose which speaker or group a Google Nest doorbell sends notifications to, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap the Menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Tap Devices.
  5. Select your Nest doorbell.
  6. Tap Doorbell.
  7. Tap Announcements.
  8. Under Speakers and displays, select the speakers or groups where you want to hear doorbell notifications.

However... there is no menu item for Speakers and displays. A hallucination?

@bush-turkey

Google Nest doorbells do not get "paired" with Nest speakers; they are using Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth for visitor announcements. If "Visitor announcements" are enabled on your Google Nest doorbell, you should get announcements on all speakers in the same Google Nest "home/structure" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451), as long as they are not set to "Do not disturb". In fact, a chronic complaint in this forum is that the announcement goes to ALL speakers and there is no way to limit which speakers receive the announcement. Our Nest Hello Doorbells send announcements to ALL of our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini.

I don't know what you mean by "Bard" or where you got the instructions you posted.

Hi @MplsCustomer

Thanks for your reply.

You are correct. Two of my speakers were not sounding an alert but I have since factory reset them and all work now.

p.s. Bard is Google's answer to ChatGPT - https://bard.google.com/

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Google Doorbell (battery) and Nest Speakers can be paired together to create a multi-room audio system through the Google Home app. However, keep in mind that the specifics of device compatibility and features may have changed since then, so I recommend checking the most recent documentation or contacting Google Support for the most up-to-date information. Here are the general steps for pairing these devices

Hello everyone,

@bush-turkey, thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing here the steps you've searched for from Bard. Though the options for "Speakers and Displays' ' are not available to select, we're glad that you're able to reset your two Nest Mini speakers and that resolved the issue. Let us know if you have more questions in mind.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and jamesanderson33.

Regards,

Emerson
