Parity between Google Home and Nest Apps and web in regard to every generation of camera?

This is more of a rant than question - many years ago I invested in the Nest camera platform. All was working great. 3 outdoor cams, and a doorbell cam - I could use the Nest app or Nest web to view all my cameras - take clips - full functionality.

One day an outdoor cam dies - ok - no biggie - buy a new one. This new gen cam does not appear nor work in my Nest app - so I switch to Google Home where I cant save or download clips at all with the old cams and my doorbell cam - only the new cam - and on the web I can't see history of ANY cam. So for 2 cams and my doorbell I have to use the Nest app or web...

To me this is very convulated - not streamlined - not next gen - and its been like this for at least a year...

@google when are we going to see the Google Home app and web become on the same level as the Nest App and web if you are deprecating the Nest app and web?

@alevenso

I've thought the same thing since we added a battery camera in Sept. 2021, and 28 months later we are still using 2 apps and 2 websites, with the Google Home app and the home.google.com website still lacking 1st gen functionality.

@alevenso You are discovering what many people have been talking about on this forum for well over a year or two.   When I discovered that the new cams would not work in the Nest app (despited being called Nest Cameras) I returned it to the store and I purchased a few used Gen 1 cams from Ebay.   It has been a year and everything is working great and I like staying in the Nest App.   Google has made some very good progress recently in moving functions over to the Google Home app but there is still a ways to go.

By the way,  if you are using the Google Home app make sure you are running the PREVIEW version.  It has some good bug fixes and enhancements over the general release. For example if you have the Nest Aware Plus subscription then you now have the ability to  export any recorded video and are not just limited to an actual recorded event.
