Recently, my indoor Nest Cams are sending notifications of motion, people seen, animals, etc. even when I am home. I have the settings correctly set up, and it has been working as it should, but recently I started receiving camera notifications while I am home. I have confirmed that location settings on my iPhone are set to “always allow”.

If you are also using the Google Home app check there as well. This has been a huge issue for me. Nest sees me away but home app says I’m home. I turned it off in the home app. Hope this helps

@S3bryan are you now only using presence sensing on the Nest app and not the Home app? Did that work for you? I'm having a similar issue with my thermostat and the Home/Away settings on the Home app.

I have a similar problem, if I turn presence sensing on in the Home app, it sets it off in the Nest App and if I turn it on in my Nest app it sets it to off in the Google home app, it says I am logged in on a different phone???
Frustrating because I end up heating an empty house.

Here is what I tried with some guidance from Google support and seems to be working. Note, I only have a thermostat linked to my Nest app. We have two iPhones linked to our home used for presence sensing.
On the nest app: turn off all settings for presence sensing (home/away assist).
On Home app: turn off all settings for presence sensing, re-install the Home app, turn on settings for presence sensing.
it’s working for now.

@Brad Thanks for getting in touch. I’m still having this issue. I’ve tried a few things from Google support but it only worked for a day or so. Its got to be something conflicting in the settings between the Home and Nest app. PLEASE HELP. I'm available to troubleshoot and test.

You can try to set up Activity Zones which could help you to better adjust, and play with the notifications and with motion detection within a specific Activity Zone. Do you have all 2021 cams? Or a mix? Or old cams?
Best regards,
Brad.

the only Nest device I have is a thermostat. I use presence sensing to trigger Home and Away modes in the Home app

I would honestly reach out to the Thermostat Forums and ask there, as I am not super familiar with the Thermostat. But it should all work the same when it comes to Presence Sense. It's a self-learning system.
Best regards,
Brad.

I had one Google nest camera, wired, 2nd generation hooked up, and presence sensing was working great. The other day, I added a second camera, same exact model, and now presence sensing doesn't work at all. I'm so frustrated. I don't want to have to manually switch between home and away every time I come and go. That defeats the purpose of presence sensing. I'm really so frustrated. I've tried so many things. Please help?!?

I have a Gen 1 Google nest hub - I have had it for 3 years! Every time Google redesigns something they create a major bug and it takes forever to fix! My presence sensing was working so so 2 weeks ago - it worked albeit slow reaction. There was an update and suddenly now it won't do anything when I come home! They had me check this and check that reboot this reboot that clear this - yada yada yada - same thing as all of you... NOTHING helped or worked! Every 2 weeks I have to reprogram my Vizio TV's because suddenly Google stops seeing them! Every month I have to reprogram at lease 1 of my 12 lights! Google stopped seeing my security camera a year ago but I have a work around for it! Lastly, "Ok Google" RARELY works anymore - I have 3 phones and 1 tablet - Ok Google works 1 out of 9 tries on EACH! So, tell me again how great Google home is?

Ok this is as bad as Google has EVER been! I have reprogrammed everything 3 times today - and 3 times it failed! NO routines are working properly - all have 1 or more devices suddenly not functioning properly for whatever reason, yet the device actually responds to google anyways! I asked Google to sync my devices and suddenly 3 things are unavailable yet everything shows up on my home and everything is working properly - so again, routines are broken. ALSO, suddenly my map location accuracy is "low" and Google wants me to activate my camera and allow Google to take pictures of store fronts etc in the vicinity to make my location more accurate? WTF have you bozos done? So, Please explain that to me - after all, google already has 2 options for location accuracy - general location and precise location, my location is set in precise and was always showing properly and accurately - and now suddenly you want me to unlock my camera to spy on my surroundings? Seriously? It WAS accurate! Why did you change this and complicate this? My location has always been accurate but your presence sensing is what is broken!
