Removal tool not working.

I just received a Nest Doorbell. It has a flat bar removal tool, not a pin. I was testing the mount before I mounted to the wall and now can't release it. Any help is appreciated.

I had the exact same issue. It is not a good latch/release design in my opinion.  Just keep trying and it will eventually come apart.

Where does it go? There is a large slot in the bottom that it seems to slide around in

Resolved. The release is now on the top of the doorbell.
