Replacing Nest Hello with Gen 2 wired.

So I upgraded to the new doorbell and it advised me to remove the previous Nest Chime and replace it with the new one. The previous one had two cables that you would tighten around the screw and two wires that would clamp onto the doorbell cables. The new one doesn’t have the clamp. It just has the two wires and it wants you to share the wires with the doorbell wire on the same screw. So I did that but the chime isn’t working. It’s an electronic chime and I’ve fiddled with the delay to see if that would get it to work but so far nothing. Any ideas? Does it matter what doorbell wire goes to what? I have 2 cables. One plugs into front and one plugs into Trans.

Google Nest should provide a wiring diagram for the 2nd gen Google Nest wired doorbell, like the ones they've provided in this forum for the older Google Nest Hello Doorbell.

Hi folks,

Thanks for visiting the Community. I’m sorry for the delayed response. We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s sort this out — a few questions: what’s the status light of your Nest Doorbell (2nd gen, wired)? What’s the voltage of your transformer? How many terminals do you have on your chime? Also, is the Quiet Time feature off in your Home app?

Take a look at this wiring diagram:

Have a look at these articles and let us know if you need more help: Upgrade your transformer for Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and Nest doorbell chime doesn't ring or sounds weak.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks,

JT
