Having had two original wired outdoor Nest cams, I was thrilled with their performance...until Google bought Nest. I just bought a new Google Nest Battery cam which is not at all as functional. What it DOES do better is to detect movement from more than 10 feet away. However, video clips cannot be created from regular feed -- just from camera-captured "events." This is terrible. About 10 coyotes ran through my woods overnight and I had to go to my original Nest cams to capture the video/audio clip. I don't live in a dense neighborhood where I might just need to worry about "events" like package pirates. My events are from Nature and I like to record deer and foxes and even the coyote pack when they are further than 10 feet from the camera. I do want 24x7 video which I have now that I bought the Google Nest electrical cord for the Google Nest battery cam so it stays up and running in my Nest Aware account. Before constant electrical power, the battery camera was "idle" most of the time. But there's no point since the scrolling of the video in the Google Home app is terrible unlike the far better original Nest app. Pretty sure I need to return this battery cam as it's not providing the consumer-created video clips that I need. Google took a great product, dumbed it down and cheapened it. This new battery camera isn't even waterproof like the old ones. And now I'm getting 429 errors in the Nest web interface which wasn't happening before. I know how to fix 429 but still, should not be happening. Anyone else have experience and/or opinions on the new Google Nest Battery Cam?
