Saving longer video clips

I am trying to save a video clip in the Google Home app but, it only lets me save 1:15 of the video.  The even I am trying to capture starts about 1:30 into the even history.  How do I save a longer video file from the event history?  I have  already changed the "Maximum event length" to 3 minutes, which is the longest setting,  and it still doesn't capture the video.  Also, how do I save a video in google home from a google cam that is not flagging as an event?

Hello mrads4l,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, which Nest Aware subscription do you have?

You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. You cannot download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be.

Follow the steps below to create and download a video clip:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Select your camera.
  4. Scroll to an event in your camera’s video history timeline. You can also tap Event history Event history button for a list of events.
  5. Choose the event you want, then tap Controls Menu.
  6. Tap Save clip to save the video clip to your phone. From there, you can share the video clip via email or other apps.

In case you have the Nest Aware Plus subscription, you may use your default screen recording app to your mobile phone and record it while the video you want is playing. This way you can capture a clip that’s not registered as an event.

Regards,

Emerson
