Setting new nestcam in theUAE

Hi, I purchased Nest Cam indoor/ outdoor battery set of three and took them to Dubai to install them. Each time I try to set the camera I got an error message “cannot connect to cloud, please try again later”.

I tried it many times and reset my router a couple of times but still the same error message! Any help please

Hello, to the best of my knowledge Google says that it is not possible to buy in one country and bring them to another counter.  I'm pretty sure the error you are getting is  when the camera attempts to connect to the Google Services in the cloud it is rejected because they see the camera in not  in the country of origin.  If you read thru this forum other people have had the same issue.  I think it also has to do with the licensing that Google (or any security camera company needs) to operate this kind of technology under the laws of that country.

Sorry, I wish I had a better answer.

Hi GRIP,

I'm jumping in to ensure everything is good here. Have you seen EmptyNester’s last response? Let me know if that helps.

I appreciate your help, EmptyNester.

Hello Lance, I just replied to his response! I hope I get some kind of confirmation from Google before I take them back to the USA

Hello GRIP,

Thanks for getting back to me. The Nest Cam (battery) is only supported in countries where it is sold on the Google Store: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico, and India.

We love that you're excited, but we don't have any news to share about its availability in the UAE.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Lance

Thanks again Lance! It seems my only option now is the to get them back to the US, and try to find something else while I am in the UAE.

Hello Dan, the latest update is I was able to setup the cameras on my Google home without being able to connect to the cloud. So they just send me a notification whenever there is movement but nothing is recorded or saved!

Hey GRIP,

I’m sorry for the delayed response here. Since the Nest Cam (battery) is not supported in the UAE, many of its features, such as video recording, won’t work.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions in the future.

Thanks for the help, Zoe, EmptyNester, and Dan.

Best regards,

Lance

Thanks for taking the time to reply! When I tried to setup the camera, the UAE and Saudi Arabia were the two only countries available in the Middle East option, so I assumed that it is ok to use the camera.

thanks again for your feedback
