Stripped security screw

Kevmo

Hi! The security screw on the top of my wired nest doorbell seems to be stripped — and yes I’m using the correct size Allen key. It came with our new house and I’m trying to pair it with our ADT system. What do I do now?

Hi Kevmo,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry that you are having issues with your Nest Doorbell and its screws. I’d be happy to help you. Let’s check it out.

A stripped security screw can be frustrating and it is important to know that sometimes it depends on the usage and how it was handled by the last user/owner.

Important Considerations:

  • Safety: Always prioritize safety when working with tools. Wear protective eyewear and gloves.
  • Precision: Be careful when drilling or using screw extractors to avoid damaging the doorbell in case you follow alternative processes to remove the screw.

In case it helps, you can also review these articles to Install Nest Doorbell (wired) and or to Install Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) depending on the model of your device.

However, to assist you better, we'll need some additional information. I'm sending you a secure form where you can provide all the necessary details and also please fill out all the information required.

Here's the contact us form.

Once you've completed the form, please let me know. This will allow us to investigate the issue further and find a solution.

Best,

Mario
