Trouble getting the key to add my nest thermostat

I have a nest thermostat and I switched to Google but I can’t get the key to set up the device in Google. Can you help? I can’t get the key to enter. It says my device is already connected to an account. I don’t know how to proceed. Can you help?

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your Nest thermostat. Let’s check it out.

 

A few questions: what country are you located in? Is this a new installation? What model of Nest thermostat do you have?

 

If the device indicates it’s already connected to an account, it needs to be reset to factory default before you can set it up again. Follow the steps below:

 

  1. Reset the Nest thermostat to factory settings.
  2. If you have the Nest Thermostat E or the Nest Learning Thermostat, add your Nest thermostat to the Nest app.
  3. For the new Nest Thermostat, set up the device in the Google Home app.
