Trying one last time

Moved into a (new to us) house here in FL, and it came with a lot of neat stuff, not the least of which was a NEST thermostat that I got up & running in no time flat, with no problems. 100% happy with that. The doorbell? Ehhhh, not so much. It's either broken, or such a poorly designed product that one needs a PHD in doorbells to make work. It simply shouldn't be this difficult. Really. It has the blue "ring" and by all outward appearances seems to be working, but I simply cannot make it connect to my WiFi. It's Xfinity if that makes a difference. Oh, it's wired, and the doorbell part works. Splendid. The camera seems to be kaput. Suggestions before I give up and smash it with a sledge hammer, and melt the remains down with my Oxy-Acetylene torch? I got some new refractory bricks to test too. Two birds, one stone.  I even tried powering it with a USB cable and hung it over the NEST thermostat. It can't get any closer than that, it it's about 15' from the router. Maybe less.😡

Tnx everyone...

I've walked away from it for now. I just have a short fuse, and get very frustrated at poorly implemented, but otherwise good technology.  I'll get back to it one of these days. Or get a pit bull.

One thing that sorta' makes me scratch my head is the warnings about a "factory reset" or whatever it's called. I'd think that most people at that point have given up trying everything else, and have nothing to lose. Like me. I do know this, it doesn't make me want to rush out and buy a bunch of other NEST products.

Hello, to the best of my knowledge it will not join a new WIFI network until you feely reset it to factory settings.  It needs to be a FULL reset and not just  re-boot.  Once you bet it back to factory settings you should be able to get it to join your WIFI network.

Here is a link with the reset instructions.

Good luck and please return here and let us know if this worked.

I honestly haven't tried it yet. I had to walk away from it before I blew a blood vessel in my brain, or started unloading a 9mm magazine in it. I worked in electronics in one way or another for 50+ years, and haven't been this frustrated in a long time. I will try one more time though. Doing a factory reset seems to be insanely difficult considering what it is. It's not like I'm guarding the secret to Coke.
