Unable to control Google NEST Cam Gen 2 (wired) with NEST App.

This is a redux of earlier threads (Now Closed) regarding the inability to control the NEST Cam Gen 2 (wired) via the NEST App. 

When is Google NEST going to link the hardware products they've sold under the NEST label? 

I recently purchased a 2nd Gen Nest Cam and added it to the other Google NEST products in my home: 3 NEST Protects, NEST Hello, Google NEST HUB Max and NEST Thermostat.  All products show on the NEST App, except the NEST Cam.  It can only be viewed/controlled from Google Home App.  

Maybe Google/NEST is more interested in developing high margin SW products for the Gov't, and less interested in supporting the commercial products they've pushed onto the civilian marketplace.

Yes, it was quite a shock for me and many other long-time users of the Gen 1 nest cams.   I don't have much hope that they will make this all happen very quickly so I returned my new Gen 2 cams and bought used ones from Ebay and they are working fine. And IF someday the Google Home app does what the NEST app does then I will consider the new hardware.  But I'm not holding my breath.  Looking at the two app they are MILES apart in the way they function.    ... a very sad state of affairs for this product in my opinion.

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration. 

 

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.
