I have 2 outdoor cameras and had to finally migrate to Google from the original Nest. Well the motion misses cars, people and more that are 10' away, like I literally had a car pull up to my house, person got out, got back in and left all 10' from one camera but it was not recorded (my Ring got it though), yet at night it catches every moth flying within 50' of the camera. No sensitivity settings for motion or anything. I am about to throw all these cameras in the trash and install more Ring cameras.
Today I saw a package next to my wall (15' from camera) wanted to see when it was delivered and who delivered it, well nothing was captured. One minute it's not there on camera then the next motion it's already there. What use are these when they don't capture something like a person, car, truck.... Yet will capture all the bugs at night???
Oh, and I have the cameras set to always record motion, no schedule, no home/away.

Do you by any chance have the 2nd gen battery cameras?
We've had a battery camera for over 2 years now, plugged in with the optional power cable. When plugged in, the camera does fine. But if we unplug it (so that it's running in battery mode) it does not do well at all in waking up from "Idle" mode to detect and record when we walk right up to the camera.

No, while my cameras are older (like 6+ years) they are plug in ones. When I was on original Nest plan they worked just fine.

Migrating from a Nest Account to a Google Account SHOULD have no effect at all on functionality for your 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells. They all still use the Google Nest app, but are now accessible for some functions in the Google Home app.
We migrated in 2020 and are still using the Google Nest app for our 1st gen cameras and doorbells.
We have a Nest Aware Plus subscription, so we get 24/7 recording.
