WIFI 6 and nest cams

magsismad

I was told that nest cams are not compatible with WIFI 6.  We had a lightning strike and had to get a new router and now I am stuck.  None of my cameras will work.  I am very fusterated.  Now I have cameras that I cannot use.

I think WiFi 6 still supports 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.  Is your problem actually that your new router has a different network name (SSID) and password than your old router?  If you can set your new router to the same network name (SSID) and password on your old router, your cameras should work.

We finally got our cameras to work.  The Google rep told us that it the old cameras would not work and that we needed to reachout to our internet provider.  But after hours of trying, we finally got them back up and running.  So we were told incorrectly.

Hey magsismad,

Appreciate the help, EmptyNester and MplsCustomer. I'm dropping by to ensure if everything is covered here. Hope that sheds some light on the issue.

Thanks,

Archie

I was told by Google nest support that it my cameras were not supported. After hours of trouble shooting, deleting cameras getting them to add back on to the account. We finally got them to work. It was not an easy task but the support person was incorrect about cameras not being supported so either he didn’t want to help or he really thought that was the issue. They are all now working. The only one that would not work was the doorbell which we ended up replacing.

MplsCustomer is correct.  If you do what they indicated it would all come back up.   Your other option is to open an official support ticket with Google.  Here is the link:
