Weak wifi signal

My Nest outdoor wired frequently goes offline. My internet provider says my signal is strong. I added a Netgear AX1800 4-Stream WiFi Mesh extender. The extender did not make a difference. The camera still goes offline often. The extender is approx. 30 ft from the router/modem box. The outdoor camera is approx 45 ft from the extender mounted on a detached garage. Any suggestions to increase signal strength an preventing camera from going offline?

Hello,  I'm an end user like you.  I'm trying to think about what is going on.  I have to say 30feet is not very far at all and it should be working fine. So I'm thinking something else is a play.   I have 5 cameras spaced all round the house and some are over 50 feet away and they almost never go offline.

Can you tell me what your internet up/down speeds are?

Also, just for a test can you move the camera to another location for a day and see if this still goes off line?  Maybe move it in the house and sit it within about 10 feet from your wifi router.

You said you added a nether AX1800.  But what is the brand and model number of your main WIFI router?  Is one one that comes with your cable provider like Spectrum or Charter or Verizon?

Let me know

Thanks, I think the problem is resolved. I returned the Netgear extender and purchased the Google WiFi Pro 3 pack. So far, the Nest outdoor cam wired has not gone offline. The test speed is 420 Mbps download and 27 Mbps upload.

I'm afraid I can't help you, but 45 ft is still a sizable distance from your camera. Myself, I had to add an extender about 15 feet from one of my cameras before I could get an acceptable reception; at 30 feet, I could not get the camera to connect consistently. In my case, the wifi signal has to go through a house outsidewall.

That is great news to hear.  And those speeds are excellent.  I have a newer mesh router from another company and it works great with everything I have including the Nest cameras.   But there is (1) ceiling fan that just  never wants to connect.  Frustrating but I just live it it.
