What to do when nest outdoor cam with battery dies?

What to do with a nest outdoor camera with a battery that is completely dead? It won't charge and won't hold a charge is just off and unavailable. Is there some way to replace the batter in it? I'm 100% sure the battery is dead, I tested everything many times. And yes, the battery is needed for operation even when hared wired.

Google won't replace it because it's just barely out of warranty. Sucks that I waited so long to install this after purchasing. It hasn't even been in operation for a year and is already completely dead. Ridiculous. I have literally bought about $10k worth of google products, almost all of it being smart home equipment. The fact they wouldn't just replace it for me is crazy.

Is the USB plug seated firmly in the bottom of the camera with the cord feeding towards the front of the camera?

I've often seen this specific advice resolve the issue in other cases, so worth giving it a try?

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. How's your Nest Outdoor Camera? Is it still not charging? Please keep us posted.

I appreciate your help, @David_K.

Best,

Jenelyn

It's still not charging, same issues. When researching online I see this is a common problem. But yet Google does nothing about it, very painful.

Hey kittermant,

Thanks for the update. If your Nest Camera will not charge, try setting the mounting setting in the Camera Settings for that specific camera in your Google Home App.  Make sure it is the one set for the magnetic mount.

Specifically: Under "Device Information" (for the camera you are trying to charge) ensure the "Camera Mount" setting is set to "Made for Google or Google Nest mount".

Regards,

Jenelyn

Yes, I have ensured the system is setup correctly and the mount is set to "Made for Google or Google Nest Mount"
