Will an update solve my camera not picking up cars at night

SO the issue is my Google Nest Camera only picks up about 1% of the cars pulling into my driveway. If there is ever an update to fix this issue, will the update apply to our already purchased cameras???

Hey Boughtlessons,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. A few questions: when did it start happening? Are there other family members who can access the camera? Do they receive any notifications? Has the camera been moved recently? Also, are there any Activity Zones set up for the camera?

Thanks,

Archie

There has been an issue with the camera above my garage since I bought it...seldom picks up vehicles at night.

No other family members have access to the camera.

The camera has been moved around but the mounted base no.

Activity zones have been set and deleted 2x...the driveway area currently has an activity zone set.

Hi folks,

I appreciate your help here, Archie.

Thanks for following up. We appreciate your efforts here. You can also give these steps a try:

  1. Restart your Nest camera.
    • Plug the camera into a power source.
    • Locate the reset button at the back of the camera.
    • Press and hold for 5 seconds.
    • Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.
  2. Restart your modem or router, unplug it from the power outlet for 1 to 2 minutes. Then, plug it back in.
  3. Ensure your Activity Zones don’t overlap with one another. Remove and create new Activity Zones.
  4. For Android devices, go to System settings > Sounds and notification > App notifications > Nest or Google Home and follow the configuration below:
    • Block all is disabled.
    • Allow peeking is enabled.
  5. For iOS devices, go to Settings > Notifications > Nest or Google Home and follow the configuration below:
    • Allow notifications are enabled.
    • You may disable any or all notification options.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT
