We had an incident on our front porch last evening (minor vandalism). It was at this point that we realized that our Nest doorbell had been offline for several days. The unit was just dead. No doorbell. No camera. Very warm to the touch, but no other sign of life. Our wifi was online for the entire week, no extended outages.
Ironically, this failure occurred about a month after the product warranty.
Really don't know if replacing the Nest Doorbell another Nest product is the best idea.

I had the same issue. My doorbell randomly stopped working. It is warm to touch but completely dead. I tried plugging it into an AC adapter via the port on the back and no luck.
