Wired Nest Doorbell 2nd gen - Indoor chime ONLY works without chime connector

Just Installed wired Nest doorbell 2nd gen. Hooked up everything according to instructions, I could not get my door chime to work. So, I hooked up the old doorbell to test and again nothing. Only other change was removing the chime connector. As soon as i removed that, it worked with the old doorbell. So, then I hooked up the nest doorbell and it is also working. Green light on camera, app works. All is dandy.

However, all posts and instructions say I NEED to keep the chime connector connected to prevent my chime from not going bad. Do I have a defective product? It seems like the chime connector is eating up some of the voltage. because I do see the chimes move slightly when chime connector is connected. But only one of the pins and just slightly, not enough to ring

The chime connector is supposed to provide constant power to the doorbell and its camera:

("The chime connector allows the chime's wires to deliver constant power to the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and Nest Doorbell (wired) and protects your chime from damage. In addition, without the chime connector, you might experience chime buzzing or unexpected chimes.": https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247132.)

If one of your doorbell plungers is moving continually, that would seem to indicate that either the chime connector is wired incorrectly, or the chime connector is defective.  This Help topic has wiring diagrams: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/12153643.

I've seen other posts in this forum from customers reporting a defective chime connector. In at least some of those instances, Google Nest would only replace the entire doorbell, so a few customers have resorted to accepting the replacement, replacing just the chime connector, and sending back the replacement doorbell.

To contact Support about a replacement:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
