Have you tried restarting the device as well as your network?

Yes multiple times plus I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Home app. Nothing I have done has made it work again.

Let me look up something are you available to troubleshoot now.

I certainly am! I will be in and out and I will keep an eye out for your response.

Ok sent  a few tips to try and see if it fixes it, and be sure to clear cache, for some reason I have seen issues correct itself by doing so.

Here are some things you can try if your Nest Cam won't connect to Wi-Fi:

Check your router
Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. You can also check your router's user manual for specific instructions.

Check your camera's distance
Try moving your camera closer to your router or access point. If your camera is already mounted, you can try moving your router closer to it.

Check for interference
Wireless interference can be caused by other Wi-Fi devices, too many Wi-Fi networks, or physical objects between your camera and router. Try moving your camera away from its original location, or moving objects that might be causing interference.

Check your network
Make sure your home Wi-Fi network is connected to the internet and working. You can also try scrolling to the bottom of the network list in the app, or manually entering a hidden network name.

Reset your camera
You can reset your camera using the reset hole on the bottom of the camera head. Insert a paperclip or thumbtack into the hole and press and hold down. After the reset, your camera will appear as "Offline" in the app until you remove it.

Clear the cache
Clearing the cache and data of the camera app can sometimes resolve issues.

Another step to consider is to stand near your Nest thermostat, and try connecting to your Wi-Fi network with another device (like a mobile phone). If your network doesn't appear, try moving your router closer to your thermostat if possible. Even a couple of feet can make a big difference in signal strength.

To be clear, this is an a nest thermostat: this is a nest camera, and I have been within inches of it while I tried all the other methods. Nothing worked.

ok thanks for this info and give me one sec, I do apologize.

I just went thru an entire reboot sequence, following all directions.. no joy!

During the process, the cam makes a sound that indicates its communicating with the device, but never successfully hooks up with it:.

If you have a dual-band router and want to use the 5GHz network, make sure you have a compatible Nest device. If you do and you are still having trouble connecting, try choosing the 2.4 GHz network first and then switching to the 5GHz one. Also have you factory restarted device

If you are still having issues I would recommend calling support, seems like a lot of other people are saying its hardware related and needs to be replaced, but I had a similar issue with the Geeni cam doing the same and once I configured it it connected, hope this helps PS turn VPN off it is on while trying initial connect.

Ok may I ask what is the thermostat saying now, and have you checked to make sure Bluetooth is on and the batteries are properly seated and charged

OK...ONE MORE TIME!

It is ***NOT** a Nest thermostat: it is a Google Nest CAMERA.

I have followed all the directions, done multiple reboots/install-uninstalls, and no joy. This is THE EXACT SAME Starlink router that worked prior to the Camera's battery dying.

I appreciate your efforts to help.

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help @CXProDev88, I really appreciate your approach and best effort here in the community.

@Wiggie, thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry to hear that your Nest Camera is not reconnecting to the network after a battery depletion. I’d be happy to help you with that. Let’s check it out.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  • What Nest Camera model do you have? 1st Generation or 2nd Generation?
  • Does the app show any error codes or messages?

Since you've already tried the basic troubleshooting steps for your Nest Camera, let's move on to some more advanced solutions:

Checking Network Settings:

  • Network Name and Password: Double-check that you're entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when trying to reconnect your Nest Camera. A typo can prevent a successful connection.
  • Guest Network: Make sure your Nest Protect isn't connected to a guest network. Guest networks often have limitations on device communication, which can cause issues with Nest Camera.
  • 5 GHz Network: I understand that you already tried it, but some Nest Camera might not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router offers separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting Nest Camera to the 2.4 GHz network specifically.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  • Network Reset (if comfortable): If you're comfortable with it, consider restarting your Wi-Fi router. This can sometimes clear up communication issues between your Nest Protect and the network.
  • Nest/Google Home App Update: Ensure you're running the latest version of the app on your phone or tablet. Updates often contain bug fixes related to network connectivity for Nest devices.
  • Factory Reset (Last Resort): If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your Nest Camera to factory settings. This will erase all its data and settings, including Wi-Fi information. Note: Before resetting, make sure you know your Wi-Fi network name and password for re-setup.
  • Check for Nest camera error codes or setup messages.

Follow the steps from this guide to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues and to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,
