floodlight mount under eave solution

Update 12/14/2021:

I got some interest in these, so I'm pushing myself to develop the 3D printing setup and design as fast as possible. and I'm super excited to share some update.

After many re-design and trial prints - I got a first functional part for myself first of course haha. I can't happier with the fit and design outcome. A little different from the original design concept, now I incorporate the design to use original Nest cover plate, this enable faster 3D print.

I bought some new bigger nozzles for the 3D printer and they are still on their way, I'll be optimizing the 3D printer with these bigger nozzle in the coming weeks then I can start selling these to everyone 😄

Note: the new design will require some longer M3.5 screws. came with Nest floodlight is M3.5x18, my design will need M3.5X25

the fit is so snug I can hold it without any screws!the fit is so snug I can hold it without any screws!

original post:

hello, I designed a horizontal mount for floodlight mounting under an eave. I'm going to 3D print some samples. This won't require any additional hardware than what's provided in the current floodlight, and it will bolt directly to the backing plate provided in the floodlight. this design also won't change the orientation of the camera body and doesn't block the sensors on the camera. If there is enough interest I can figure out an injection molding solution.

I waited 3 years for this product, and I'm stunned to find out the Nest product team would release a design that can't find mounted horizontally as there are millions of people with eave mounted floodlight for garage. very disappointed and annoyed.

Haha, I just saw you post on Reddit and replied!
I like that design much better than the other 3D printed ones I've seen. I would need 5 of them! I have 6 cameras, but 5 of them I had to mount vertically. Good design if the dimensions are accurate. Looks like there is enough room in the back of the camera for wires too! Keep me posted. Thxs!

Very impressive.  Since we both know google won’t support your design, what about reaching out to Wasserstein.

I'd be possibly interested in purchasing two of these. Are they ready for selling yet?
