google nest doorbell wired factory reset fails to complete

DavidC1

Was purchased in December 2020.  Going back to Comcast after trying another ISP for several months.  Trying to do a factory reset on a Nest Hello.  Wires are connected.  After holding down both buttons for about 20 seconds while the blue light circles the ring, it just goes dark and does not give any other color or sound.  Then when I try to add it back either through the Google home app or the Nest app it gives an error that it has not completely reset.  Try again.  Same thing happens again.  My phone is on the Wi-Fi network that I want to connect to, and it is nearby while I press the buttons.  The doorbell previously worked fine on previous ISP, as well as even longer ago on ComCast.

How do I finish the Factory reset?

Hi DavidC1,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you're trying to reset your Nest Hello Doorbell with no success. I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts in this situation. I'm here to help.

To further assist you, please answer the following questions:

  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?

  • What’s the color of the LED status light?

  • How far is the device from the router?

  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?

  • Are there any devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?

In the meantime, please use the following helpful article to properly do the factory reset to your Nest Hello Doorbell. Also, after doing the reset, make sure to set up the Nest Hello Doorbell to the Nest app.

Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Byron
