iOS Nest app issues with VPN

Hello,

We're from Mobile Defender Microsoft team.
We've been hearing back from our customers that Nest app does not work smoothly in presence of Defender's VPN. They've reported streaming issues and random sign outs.
On looking through existing questions posted on Google Nest Community, it appears there have been issues with other on device VPN solutions:

  1. Trend Micro VPN issue available here - "My failure did align with me installing Trend Micro “Mobil Security “ on my iPhone which utilises a VPN as part of web protection"
  2. MDE VPN issue available here - "My iPhone is mobile device managed by my organization which installed the Microsoft Defender app which has a URL filtering/inspection option. I toggled that off and haven’t had the problem since!!"
  3. On Android, Google FI VPN issue available here

It appears that Nest app does not work smoothly with an on-device VPN. Can someone pls shed more light on this -

  1. Why is this happening?
  2. Is there a temporary workaround we can implement from our side for iOS?
  3. Is a long term fix being looked at by Nest team?
  4. Are there any fixed IP ranges that you suggest VPN apps white-list so that Nest app functions smoothly?

Nest app starts working smoothly once the VPN is turned off (for iOS) or excluding app from VPN (Android). On iOS end, we cannot expect our customers to switch off VPN each time for smooth working of Nest app. Please provide us answers to the above questions and any further information that can help Nest app function smoothly with an on-device VPN.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Yes, can some from Google respond?

Seeing as many customers have Defender or Trend Micro software installed on their mobile devices by their employers, when is the fix coming?

Btw, this is not a new problem. Would expect Google to be on this pronto.
