Hi,
i *think* this issue started with iOS17 beta, but even now with the RC version the problem persists.
The notifications do get sent and I’ll even see them flash up on my phone, but then they’ll just vanish, they aren’t even available when you swipe up on the lock screen to see the history.
The weird thing is, it doesn’t happen on all notifications, but I’d say at a guess 90% of them.
This happens for a battery doorbell and two battery cams, the old gen 1 indoor camera on the Nest platform is unaffected.
Any help appreciated!
App version: 3.6.104
Dave.

I upgraded to iOS 17 yesterday, and this does NOT seem to be happening to us on our one plugged-in battery camera (or, as you noted, on our 1st gen cameras and doorbells) on my iPhone XR or Apple Watch after several tests. To be sure of this, I changed "Display as" from "Stack" to "List" for Notifications so I could clearly see the notifications separately on my iPhone. The notifications have remained for over an hour. If I notice notifications disappearing, I will repost.
However, like other customers (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-cameras-alert-sound-alert/m-p/4830...), the notification sound for Google Nest camera alerts is almost inaudible (though NOT on my Apple Watch on the corresponding watchOS 10 upgrade).
I also noticed a side issue. When viewing Activity in the Google Home app, I discovered it can take several tries before the current day's activity appears under TODAY. On my first couple of tries, the app showed yesterday's events as today's events.

Just seen that the same thing is happening on my wife’s phone too,
She pointed out that when I just got in there were no alerts, however they showed up, then disappeared! They show in the history when I view the app, something very odd going on with the Google home app for us
09-21-2023 04:12 PM
i’m having the same issue, and i can no longer press and hold to see the preview so now i have to open my app and wait for it to load instead of just getting a brief clip in the preview
09-21-2023 04:48 PM
Curious. I didn't even know there was a press-and-hold capability to see a short preview clip without opening the app, but that's working for me on iOS 17 on an iPhone XR for notifications from the Google Home app for our battery camera and from the Google Nest app for notifications from our Nest Hello Doorbell.

Not getting indoor nest camera notifications since updating to ios 17
09-28-2023 06:57 PM
Same here and also outdoor

I upgraded from the iPhone 14 pro to the iPhone 15 pro today and the notifications do not work. I have tried the settings are exactly as they were in my iPhone 14 pro and they don’t work on the iPhone 15 pro. Any ideas??

Hello everyone,
Thanks for bringing this up. It seems that this concern is for iOS users only. You may try reinstalling your Nest app and Google Home app or see the "Apple security updates and Rapid Security Responses" for more information.
I appreciate your response, MplsCustomer.

Hey Belindastville,
Thanks for getting back to us. To confirm, have you tried reinstalling your Nest app? Make sure it's updated as well as your Android OS. In case you have a spare phone you may try the same thing there and check if you'll still get the same issue. Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Emerson
09-28-2023 06:57 PM
Have you been able to fix the issue? I am having the same problem
09-24-2023 10:06 AM
I'm no longer able to view the video from the notification. I now have to go innthe nest app directly

Same issues here with iOS 17 (disappearing notifications when locked, live preview on long-press not working).

Hi, I tried both and now nothing is working on iPhone or watch. No notifications at all
10-02-2023 07:39 AM
Issue still happening to me. Phone and app fully up to date. Already deleted and reinstalled the app.

There are a couple of different issues being reported on this thread, so it's not clear what exact issue is still happening to you. Notifications are working fine for us with iOS 17.
You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in the post below:

So since upgrading to new phones, neither myself or my husband can view the ‘google home’ specific cameras at all(as in our entire household indoor and out), the 1st gen nest ones work fine with the nest app still. The 2nd gen ones say they are all offline in the google home anpp after upgrading to new phones. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling google home, but nothing changed.

Same here, since I have upgraded to Iphone 15 pro max, the notification quickly disappear. Please fix
10-04-2023 05:15 PM
I am having the same issue on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. The notification will pop up for motion events, then disappear after a couple of seconds as if I dismissed the notification. To make matters worse, when I do click on the notification in time, it does not show me a preview of the event, but rather a blank screen. I have an iPhone 14 also running the same version of ios17 and the same verison of Google Home. The notifications come on my iPhone 14 and let me see a preview, but not on the iPhone 15.
10-05-2023 11:14 AM
I upgraded to iPhone 15 and I am not receiving any notifications. I checked all notification settings and made sure they are on. But no notification whatsoever. Thanks for sharing if you have a solution
10-05-2023 12:14 PM
Problem persists.
Logged a ticket as requested and was told to check my notification settings (that haven’t changed).
Hopefully Google will take this seriously soon, as it’s clearly affecting people as per the replies in here.

Hi Dave, for a second your original post gave me a fright, I thought I had written it and completely forgot, same name, exact same setup In the house lol!
Just as an FYI, I’m having the exact same issues, reinstall and troubleshooting did nothing.
let me know if you hear back please.

@EmersonB and @Jenelyn_O :
I just did a little experimentation.
We're on iOS 17.0.3 on both an iPhone XR and an iPad Pro 6th gen.
On both devices, the Google Nest app is version 5.72.0 and the Google Home app is version 3.7.103.
I triggered a "Person" event that was picked up both by one of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells (Nest app) and by our Google Nest Camera (Battery), plugged in (Home app).
Both event notifications appeared initially on the Lock Screen of both devices, and remained for a minute or so. (We have "List" configured under Settings | Notifications, so each notification appeared separately.)
After about two minutes, the event notification from the Google Home app for the battery camera disappeared from the Lock Screen and from the Notification Center (as seen by swiping down from the upper left corner on an unlocked screen), but the event notification from the Google Nest app for the Nest Hello doorbell remained on both the locked screen and in the Notification Center. This happened on both devices.
After about 8-10 minutes, the event notification from the Google Nest app for the Nest Hello Doorbell disappeared from the locked screen on both devices, but remained in the Notification Center. It seemed to disappear from the locked screen after I unlocked the screen and opened other apps on both devices.
After about 20 minutes, the event notification from the Google Nest app for the Nest Hello Doorbell still remained in the Notification Center, along with all previous uncleared Google Nest app notifications for today. No notifications from the Google Home app remained, even though there were others from earlier today I had not cleared.
So, it does seem to be an issue with the Google Home app, and NOT the Google Nest app). For us, unviewed event notifications from the Google Home app spontaneously disappear from the Lock Screen and the Notifications Center after about 2 minutes.
Please pass this on to the Google Nest technical staff, since there is no way to provide this detailed information via "feedback" in the Google Home app.

MpIsCustomer, thank you for this troubleshooting. I am not getting any notifications from my Nest doorbell. I get notifications from my indoor nest camera and from the Google home app for my outdoor cameras (battery). BUT the Nest doorbell does not send me any notification. I have not looked yet at how long the notifications stay, the ones from the other cameras.
10-05-2023 01:27 PM
Just to help clarify the problem for Google Nest, is your Nest doorbell a Nest Hello Doorbell (Nest app) or a 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell or battery doorbell (Home app)? And is your indoor camera 1st gen (Nest app) or 2nd gen (Home app)?
10-05-2023 01:28 PM
Nest Doorbell a Nest Hello (Nest App)
10-05-2023 01:30 PM
When I upgraded from my iPhone 14 to iPhone 15, once the transfer was complete, I noticed that I am receiving notifications from my doorbell nest app on my iPhone 14 (wifi) but no notifications on my iPhone 15. Checked all notifications settings. they were all enabled.
10-05-2023 01:37 PM
You shouldn't have to, since you just transferred everything over, but you could try deleting and reinstalling the Nest app on your iPhone 15. About a year ago, I stopped getting doorbell notifications on my iPhone XR, while the iPhone 13 in our household was still working. Deleting and reinstalling the Nest app fixed the problem. I don't know if it was the reinstall that fixed the problem or the fact that when I reinstalled I also had to log back into the Nest app.
10-05-2023 01:50 PM
Yeah, I re-installed the Nest App, logged on again but still no notifications
10-05-2023 02:44 PM - edited 10-05-2023 02:57 PM
I did a second experiment, and it negated most of the results of the first experiment. This time I triggered "People" events on two of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells and on our battery camera (plugged in) by leaving to walk our dog and then again upon returning 30 minutes later.
After the passage of time and unlocking both devices a few times, and opening some arbitrary apps, the event notifications from the Google Nest app (for the 2 doorbells) disappeared from the Lock Screen, but remain in the Notification Center.
This time, however, the notifications from the Google Home app (for the battery camera) remained on the Lock Screen AND in the Notification Center. On the Lock Screen, they are now 20 minute and 50 minutes old on both the iPad and iPhone.
So I don't know what to think about what's happening.
P.S., I just noticed that the oldest event from the Google Home app (which occurred about 50 minutes ago) has now disappeared from the Lock Screen AND the Notification Center on both the iPad and the iPhone. Perhaps it's variable as to WHEN the notifications spontaneously disappear without being viewed.

Is there a fix/update for this, Google?
10-13-2023 03:36 PM - edited 10-13-2023 03:37 PM
Same problem here with iOS 17
I have 6 Google nest cameras and 3 Nest IQ/Hello
the Nest app still works better than Google Home after all these years…

This problem is 100% with Google. Before their update 2 weeks ago, I was getting notifications just fine on my phone. Then they rolled out an update, and no notifications. On the Google Home app, I am also seeing events for motion, even though I have motion events turned off.
The preview option is the main reason I even switched to Google Nest. I always check the previews and having to check the app every second to see if there is an actual event is getting annoying. Simple solution, roll back the update! Ok, probably not that simple, but this is still very frustrating. I get notifications from my older Nest devices, Nest Doorbell 1st gen and Nest Cam Gen 1, on the "old" Nest app just fine... My Google Nest cameras, 2 wired and 1 floodlight camera, are giving me problems through the Google Home app.
10-19-2023 07:13 AM
I have the same issue. IOS 17.
I have noticed that disabling and enabling the notifications via settings gets things back for a day or 2, and then it goes back to not showing the notifications or (most times) not showing the picture on the right side of the notification, or the notification disappearing entirely.
I updated Google home app to 3.8.107( the latest), but the issue is still there .
10-19-2023 08:39 AM
Issue still persisting for me also
10-21-2023 07:54 AM
How is this still not fixed? I have 4 devices with Nest Aware subscriptions and they’re useless for notifications.
10-21-2023 08:03 AM
Perhaps it's because Google Nest has not figured out the circumstances under which this occurs. I've been watching it for a couple of weeks now, and it very rarely happens to us on our iPhones or iPads. In most cases, notifications--if not selected--will remain on our iPhones and iPads for hours.
