old doorbell chime does ring with Nest

Hi,

I have a Nest Hello Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell - NC5100US - Item #: ############## that I purchased from NewEgg in 2020.

I have a 30 year old doorbell on the wall that I would like to replace that is compatible with the Nest. This old doorbell suddenly stopped chiming and I have 2 confused electricians on my hands as to why. I'd rather cut to the chase and buy new. Any suggestions as to which door bell chime will work best with the Nest?  (I want to hear the chime on my phone and on the wall.)

Thanks in advance!

Google Nest does not provide any recommendations on doorbell chimes; all they provide is this Help topic on the voltage and power requirements for your doorbell transformer:

One possibility for why your old 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell is no longer ringing your indoor doorbell chime is that the internal battery (yes, it has an internal battery) has failed. This has happened to MANY hundreds of Google Nest customers; see this old locked thread with over 1,000 replies:

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Hello-Doorbell-cuts-out-when-butto...

This has now happened to all three of our Nest Hello doorbells. Because the internal battery provides power for the doorbell during the instant when the doorbell button is pressed and power is diverted to ring the indoor doorbell chime, the doorbell goes offline for a minute when the doorbell button is pressed, and the internal doorbell chime may not work.

There is a workaround. We have turned off the "Indoor chime" option on all three Nest Hellos in the Google Nest app to prevent the doorbell from going offline, and we rely instead on "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) on our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini.
