Just bought the two battery indoor/outdoor "nest" cams and I'm unable to connect via the home app because the automated install only sees some chromecast device I don't own. When I attempt to connect another device and specify cameras it states ALL cameras are handled by the nest app. Nest app scans the QR code and informs me this camera only works with google home. Why ship a google home only camera with a QR code that can only be scanned by the nest app? What kind of ass backward tom**bleep**ery is this?

Yep, this product release has been a huge disaster as you can see by reading many issues being reported here on this website. Many folks (including me) have returned the new cameras. This is heartbreaking to see what has happened to the world of NEST cameras, especially for those of us that have over $1k invested. And to see so many people with the previous generation unable to get replace parts is even more sad.
Google had it in their power to pull way ahead of all the other home security cameras out there. But I believe what they have done is moved themself closer to last place in this arena.
