"Full history" option just added to Google Home app for older Nest cameras/doorbells!

Google Nest has just added a "Full History" option for our older cameras and doorbells to the Google Home app, accessed by clicking on the 3 dots ("More") option in the upper right corner when viewing the camera!

Google Nest has been promising to bring full access to the Google Home app for our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells for 11 months now (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/... ).  This must be their first step, but there has been no announcement anywhere, and no one in this forum has yet reported it until now.

This post from a user in Europe shows a screen shot of the new option:  https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-app-and-Home-app-shows-two-differe...

This view is like the "Full History" option for the newer cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app; it shows only events (but does not [yet] have a "Save clip to device" option), and does not yet provide access to 24/7 history.

Hi MplsCustomer,  WOW, good discovery!  I just tried it and I can indeed see my gen 1 cam history in the Google Home app.   It seems a little clumsy how they have us access it but at least it is there.   The other thing is it appears there still no way to look at the 24/7 footage for those of us that have Nest Aware Plus.  But seeing this step forward is a very encouraging indicator of what is to come.

... but for now, I remain a user of the Nest app for many functional reasons.   I leave it there for now.

Another customer just commented that this is feature is not new, so it may not signify anything at all in Google Nest's direction for cameras and doorbells. Oh well.

Hi there,

Just checking in to see how the conversation is going as there's been a lapse in activity on this thread. Thank you for your help, @EmptyNester!

Best regard,
Brad

Eleven months ago, Google Nest Vice President Rishi Chandra said "we commit to being more transparent with you on where we are taking the camera portfolio" (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...).

Since then, there has been no public communication at all from Google Nest on where it is "taking the camera portfolio", and the only apparent change to the Google Nest camera portfolio has been the addition of the "Full History" option for newer cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app.

When is Google Nest going to be "more transparent with you on where we are taking the camera portfolio"?

@MplsCustomer

Great feedback, but I am afraid until we are updated, I do not have an update to give. So unfortunately, I don't have anything to tell you regarding your response. Once there is an update, I am sure Google will let you know.

Best regards,

Brad

@Brad

So,if Google Nest cannot provide any update at all on its direction after 11 months, then what did Google Nest Vice President's Sept. 29, 2021 commitment "to being more transparent on where we are taking the camera portfolio" really mean?

Until we are provided with an update of any sort, I don't have any further information. I am sure you can check out the blog and check it out further there.

Best regards,

Brad
