takeout.google.com - doorbell - first generation

Reggut

This is how I try to get videos from my doorbell. I need help navigating this workflow.

I open the website take.google.com

I order my information on nest, including videos.

I receive email from google takeout “your data is ready for download”. I open this email, and “download my files”.

I need help obtaining videos  from my first generation doorbell .

I receive a .zip download

I open .zip folder.

I receive a takeout folder.

In the takeout folder, I receive a file” archive_browser” file and a “Nest” folder

Neither of these items contains the video I requested. I have tried on three separate occasions, and I am not able to navigate to receive the videos.

Hi Reggut,

Thanks for sharing that with us and we appreciate your efforts here. Let’s further check this — do you have a Nest Aware subscription?

Thanks,

JT

Hey there,

Got it — it looks like you have 1st gen Nest Aware.

Here’s how to download your Nest data:

  1. Open your Chrome browser.
  2. Go to https://goo.gle/2QT0zgq.
  3. Scroll down the web page, under Request your Nest data click My Nest Data.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download your video history.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Today I ordered my Nest history from takeout.google.com.

*In the advanced settings, I ordered 3 days of data.

*I also chose all types of data, including camera data.

I ordered the data to come to me as an email, in a .zip format.

janthadeus,

Thanks for the followup.
I did not expect the takeout website to provide any video clips, and instead I was surprised that it did.

Question: The .mov file names are a combination of date and time. What time zone does Google use when they’re naming the .mov files?  The file time is not eastern nor pacific time.

Regards,
Pat

Hey there,

You’re welcome! It should be aligned to your time zone, but if it shows a different time zone than yours. Download a third party video player on your computer to show the timestamp. To learn more, take a look at this article: Nest video clip timestamp.

Let us know if there’s anything else.

Thanks,

JT
