transformer compatibility

Villella

Hi all and thanks for any help in advance. I'm checking Nest doorbell transformer requirements and it says to use a wired doorbell I need a transformer rated 16-24 VAC, not being an electrician, my transformer is rated 16V, 15VA. I have no idea how that converts to VAC. not sure if this makes it less or more complicated, but I already have 1 wired doorbell working with this setup. I'd like to add a second wired doorbell. So my question is, do I need to somehow figure out what the VAC is for this transformer to check compatibility, and would the addition of a second doorbell actually require a higher rated transformer.  Thanks

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell, and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power. If that is the case, please reach out to a Google Nest Pro to come and help you out.

Best regards,
Brad
