Hi LeonardP,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. I'm sorry to hear about the connectivity issues with your Nest Doorbell when scanning the QR code. I'd be happy to help you. Let’s check it out.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  1. Are you getting any error code other than the message described?
  2. How far is the doorbell from the router?
  3. Do you have other Nest devices in the house?
  4. Can the doorbell find other Wi-Fi networks?
  5. Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?
  6. Do other devices experience slow internet speeds?
  7. What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  8. What Wi-Fi frequency band do you try to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?
  9. Has the doorbell ever successfully connected to this network?

Meanwhile, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get your Nest Doorbell paired:

General Troubleshooting:

  1. Skip the QR Scanning step: You can tap Continue without scanning to skip the scan the QR code step. You will need to enter the entry key instead. The entry key can be found below the QR code.
  2. Network Reset (if comfortable): If you're comfortable with it, consider restarting your Wi-Fi router. This can sometimes clear up communication issues between your Nest device and the network.
  3. Nest/Google Home App Update: Ensure you're running the latest version of the app on your phone or tablet. Updates often contain bug fixes related to network connectivity for Nest devices.
  4. Check for Nest doorbell error codes or setup messages.

Checking Network Settings:

  1. Network Name and Password: Double-check that you're entering the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when trying to reconnect your Nest Doorbell. A typo can prevent a successful connection.
  2. 5 GHz Network: The Nest Doorbell might not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If your router offers separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting Nest Doorbell to the 2.4 GHz network specifically.
  3. Restart your Nest Doorbell: If none of the above solutions work, consider restarting your Nest device.

Follow the steps from this guide to Troubleshoot connecting to the app during setup, to Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues and to Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages.

Please keep me posted.

Best,

Mario
