Access android/data/org.xbmc.kodi

Hello,

I bought a Chromecast with google tv because i like the cast technology and i want to use kodi as mediaplayer from nas like the other tv with android tv to migrate two device to one.

But i cant access the app data folder under Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi.

I want to place the file advancedsetringa.xml in the App directory (https://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL).

I tested several file manager but i only get no supported app or permission denied. I think its an android 13 Problem.

Please make a settings switch "can accessed throught file file manager" or Something.

With this limitation the chromecast with google tv is useless to me.

How can i add this file?

Thank you

I'm in the same boat and been trying all known ways. Like apps such as FX Eplorer or X-Plore. You need to access (sdcard)/Android/Data/org.xbmc.kodi/.kodi/userdata but you can't venture any further than /Android. As soon as you hit "Data" it's "Access Denied".

Tools like the one I mentioned should get around this by getting root permission and this seem to work fine for your Android phones, not so for ChromeCast / Google TV. And apps simply ask you to allow the root access notification and then report "no tool found to gain access" and it all fails.

Gaining enough elevation to access Data seems impossible at this moment.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Chromecast Community forum! Please clear the cache and data of the Kodi app and reinstall it. If the issue persists and it's isolated with this app, contact Kodi support for further help.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for reaching out. However this is not what we are talking about. We are talking about Chromecast actively refusing us access to /Android/Data regardless which app.

There needs to be an option to allow it maybe by use of developer mode.

Thank you for your Response.

this doesnt change anything. Its a limitation from Android.

Android on phone use the files app. But i cant access the native file manager (comments on reddit says this is the only File Manager with this permission). Other filer managers (call intent) gives the message "no tool found to gain access".

I installed the AOSP files apo but this app doesnt work an freeze.

Please fix this limitation...

Hello there,

Got it. It looks like the set up that you're trying to use with your Chromecast device isn't the typical use for Chromecast with Google TV (4K). It will be best if you could reach out to Kodi to check if they have additional information about this.

Also, I'd suggest you send feedback about this via Google TV. Every bit of feedback helps a ton! Here's how.

Let me know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Thanks,

Jennifer
