Hello everyone...
First time here. I am having difficulty pairing my bluetooth 'Apple Magic Keyboard' to my 'Chromecast Google TV'. The Chromecast sees the keyboard and asks me to enter a passcode on the keyboard, but it fails to connect and this will not pair. I reset the keyboard and ensured that it was in pairing mode and tried several times, but without success.
Any help would greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Dey1

Hi everyone,
We've been able to confirm that the Logitech K380 and Magic Keyboard from Apple do not support connecting to Chromecast with Google TV. As a reference, you can check out the articles below to know more. You can also submit feedback with the keyboard manufacturer.
Best,
Nikki

Same problem here with my Logitech K380, wont pair when you enter pin + enter. Pairs with every other device, laptop, Android phones. But not with the google chromecast with tv.
Fix this Google!

I have the same problem with the 4K Chromecast with Android 12 and a Logitech K380 keyboard....
Just filled out the form, now I'm hoping for a quick solution 🙂

Logitech K380 not working with Chromecase with Google TV. Please fix.

Can someone check if doing a factory reset twice might help? Supposedly, for some reason, once is not enough and resetting the settings twice supposedly fixes some issues with Android TV 12.

Anyone got it working after filling in the form?
Also got a K380 that doesn't accept enter after filling in the code in A12.
Pressing 0000 + Enter gives a response (unable to connect) filling in the requested code gives an unresponsive UI. Pressing cancel doesn't respond either.

I bought the 2K Google TV Chromecast (Full HD) with Android 12 for my father in-law. I thought, let's try it out with the keyboard..... And.... It works....
So please get it fixed for the 4K module!!!

You seem to be confusing 😋Didnt you read what the incompetent Google Support guys told and maked as the """right""" answer? Those bt keyboards are not compatible with a "TV" 😋
I want everyone on here make another support ticket, and ask for a supervisor. Then tell them the names of those support guys, who lied. They should get fired.

I have pretty much given up. Sadly, I have received no real assistance since I started thus thread back in January of this year.

Same keyboard(Logitech K480) is working with Android phone(Samsung A71 5G), how funny this is. Google, pls stop blaming a vendor for your problem - Bluetooth is Bluetooth, a universal standard and nothing special.

Just got this nonsense email for my ticket: "My name is ***, one of the senior support from Google. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with pairing your keyboard to the Chromecast TV. We have confirmed with Apple that it is designed only for phones, tablets and computers. You can send feedback to us with the feature that you wanted. "
How incompetent are these people working at Google!? How did they get their job!? I have no idea if I should cry or laugh about this.

I think we should cry 😢

This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. These incompetent support assistant guys have no idea what theyre talking about. This is a BUG, GOOGLES FAULT. I wonder if this gets secretly fixed with Android 13 maybe which sooner or later will get released for Chromecast TV.

Me too! I hope that this response is so bad it ends up on androidpolice or something.

Got the same email. Must be a joke.

Hi,
I have a Logitech K380 keyboard. Since the A12 update for the 4K, the pairing stopped functioning.
Symptons:
- During pairing proccess;
- Press 0000 + enter. Androids reacts with not succesfull, as expected.
- Filling in the pairing code + enter. Android doesn't respond pressing the cancel button is unresponsive.
It works with:
- Chromecast with Google TV 4K (Android 10) + K380
- Chromecast with Google TV 2K (Android 12) + K380
Issue:
The Chromecast with Google TV 4K (Android 12) with K380 not functioning. While it used to work and with the 2K it works.

Did you even read though the above comments? The story is: Incompetent Google support guys said the fault is with the Logitech keyboard, which is of course wrong and a stupid lie. You need to open a support ticket at Google, and make a complain about this person: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/112119
So some supervisor will give them a rebuke for not doing their job properly.

Perhaps twitter will do a better job, since this person is really not understanding technology. Doesn't even know that chromecast is running Android...

I just got this ridiculous answer on their Twitter account which is basically just a copy paste of what was told on here too:
What a clown fiesta is this!? I tried to explain in my post on there the situation, but it seems they just looked on this nonsense answer on here and copy pasted it.
Ive never seen such incompetence in a long time before honestly. Obviously these support guys are no software developers or even into IT, they seem to have no idea what theyre talking about. I am just shocked. This is Google.
A kindergarten student can see in 10 seconds that this is a BUG. It worked with firmware 10. It works with the 2k version.

Same isssue
01-14-2023 04:41 PM
Same issue.
Here's a PITA workaround to use a real BT keyboard with Chromecast with Google TV (4K) Android 12; (until Google fixes this bug - "fingers crossed".
1. get the chromecast set up in the Google Home app on your phone. Make sure your BT keyboard is paired with your phone.
2. Pair your virtual remote-
From the Google Home app:
Power on your TV and Google TV or Android TV device.
On your mobile device, open the Google Home app Home.
Tap the Google TV or Android TV device that you want to control.
To use your virtual remote control, tap Open remote.
(more info. here- https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/11221499?hl=en-GB)
3. Keep the Google Home app / virtual remote open/uppermost on your phone.
4. While in front of the TV with the Chromecast 4k Android 12, you should now be able type on your BT keyboard and see it populate the active typing fields you are trying to fill-in on the TV.

I totally advice everyone to sell their crappy Chromecast with TV. Someone should sue Google for this. They also anounced a new 4k model is coming in 2023, so everyone who owns a 4k model, sell it right now if you can.
01-18-2023 05:55 AM
It's very sad, in my opinion, when a tech company gets so large you can no longer report bugs.
01-18-2023 06:01 AM
Agree. And you have to waste your time with people from 3rd level support who have no idea what theyre talking about, like these people above.
01-21-2023 08:11 PM
There is clearly a problem at the android side causing the issue. As everyone has noted before, this previously worked, and an Android update broke it. Kindly stop blaming other vendors and fix your support for bluetooth keyboards on the tv OS.

Firmware STTE.220920.016.H1 update of didn't fix anything. Don't think the developers are getting proper input from the community...
02-07-2023 09:33 AM
The problem is, this is a community forum, no one from Google knows about the problem I guess, and the crappy community helpers never communicated it to Google. I wish there was a way to talk to Google developers directly, if I could show a developer this problem, he would mostly make a bug tracker for this in 10 seconds.

I posted on twitter and got google to put a response there. Perhaps we can get their attention on that post.
