Apple TV library - Video not available

mike__mcmillan

Getting the following error when trying to view Apple TV library content on Chromecast.  Network has been reset multiple times, cache cleared, app uninstalled and re-installed - issue has not been resolved.  It doesn't seem to be an issue with Apple TV+ streaming content, that plays fine.  It's just the purchased content from the library.

I've tried starting the content on my iPhone, and then clicking to continue the content on Chromecast, same error. Talked to Apple TV support and they sent me here.

Hey there,

Thanks for getting back to us. To confirm, do you have a Chromecast with Google TV device? If yes, please plug it in on a different HDMI port on your TV. If the issue persists, factory reset your Chromecast with Google TV.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. Currently, casting from Apple TV mobile app to your TV isn't supported as the Apple TV app is only designed to cast via AirPlay, not Chromecast. I'd suggest you send feedback about this using the Google Home app. Here's how.

Let me know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I'm not trying to cast. I'm just trying to play the purchased content from my Apple TV app library on the Chromecast. This is still an issue.

The problem is not with casting. The problem is with playing any content while on the native Chromecast Apple TV app. All appears well until the intro commercial finishes (that's right, the initial commercial streams just fine!). Then, the "Video not Available" screen that @mike__mcmillan posted appears. The internet is not the issue, nor is the Apple service. I did all the troubleshooting listed online including restarting the Chromecast, resetting the internet, uninstalling and reinstalling the Apple TV app, and logging out and in to the Chromecast 's Apple TV app. There's a deeper problem here.

Please help, @JenniferV ! Thanks.

Factory reset and re-installing everything worked. Thanks,

Factory resetting fixed the problem for me, too. Thanks!
